FINE & PERFORMING ARTS/HUMANITIES CENTER PULASKI TECHNICAL COLLEGE

North Little Rock, Arkansas

The design of the new Fine and Performing Arts / Humanities Center for Pulaski Technical College is a strategic association between Jackson Brown Palculict and Perkins+Will. Representing the single largest project undertaken on campus, the design emphasizes a welcoming, inviting and comfortable academic facility, creating an environment offering unique choices for students, faculty, administration, and outreach to the community.

The building design offers a variety of spaces for student gathering while providing a flexible and multi-use 500 seat performance theater. The building will also provide state-of-the-art academic space for the College of Humanities, offering classrooms, labs, student resources and office spaces.

Representing the first major academic building to be built east of West Scenic Drive, the design takes its exterior direction from the existing contemporary architectural vernacular found on campus of brick, metal and glass. The sustainable design offers many innovative strategies—an abundance of natural day-lighting, views to the outside, energy efficient engineering systems, and water conservation—to accomplish the goal of LEED Silver certification.
